मनुजानां अपचारादपरक्ता देवताः सृजन्त्येतान् । तत्प्रतिघाताय नृपः शान्तिं राष्ट्रे प्रयुञ्जीत ॥ ४६-०३ ॥
Mankind, by their misdeeds, offend the Devas, and the Devas send down portents to indicate their displeasure; the king shall perform expiatory rites for the redress of the miseries which otherwise are sure to befall mankind.
