ब्रह्माणं ऊचुरमरा भगवन्शक्ताः स्म नासुरान्समरे । प्रतियोधयितुं अतस्त्वां शरण्यशरणं समुपयाताः ॥ ४३-०१ ॥

The Devas addressed Brahmā as follows—“Lord, we are unable to defeat the Asuras in fight and we have therefore come to you for help.”

देवानुवाच भगवान्क्षीरोदे केशवः स वः केतुम् । यं दास्यति तं दृष्ट्वा नऽजौ स्थास्यन्ति वो दैत्याः ॥ ४३-०२ ॥

Brahmā spoke to the Devas as follows—“The Supreme Viṣṇu of the sea of milk will give you a banner, at the sight of which the Asuras, your enemies, will cease to oppose you in battle.”

लब्धवराः क्षीरोदं गत्वा ते तुष्टुवुः सुराः सैन्द्राः । श्रीवत्साङ्कं कौस्तुभमणिकिरनौद्भासितौरस्कम् ॥ ४३-०३ ॥

Having obtained the boons, the demigods and Indras went to the ocean of milk and praised them. His chest was illuminated by the rays of the Kaustubha gem.

श्रीपतिं अचिन्त्यं असमं समं ततः सर्वदेहिनां सूक्ष्मम् । परमात्मानं अनादिं विष्णुं अविज्ञातपर्यन्तम् ॥ ४३-०४ ॥

The Lord of the goddess of fortune is inconceivable, unequal, equal and subtle to all embodied beings. The Supreme Soul, beginningless and unknowable, is Lord Viṣṇu.

तैः संस्तुतः स देवस्तुतोष नारायणो ददौ चैषाम् । ध्वजं असुरसुरवधूमुखकमलवनतुषारतीक्ष्णांशुम् ॥ ४३-०५ ॥

God Nārāyaṇa, pleased with the praise of the Devas, gave them a Dhvaja (flag-staff) which at the same time served both as the Sun and the Moon respectively to the lotus-like face of the Deva and Asura females.
