सुरचापमन्द्रगर्जितविद्युत् प्रतिसूर्यका शुभा सन्ध्या । शशिशिवशक्रऽशास्थाः शान्तरवाः पक्षिमृगसङ्घाः ॥ २१-१६ ॥
The twilight is auspicious, adorned with a rainbow, gentle thunder, lightning, and a mock sun; the moon, Śiva, Indra, and the Sun appear favorable, and flocks of birds and herds of animals are calm and peaceful in their sounds.

suracApamandragarjitavidyut pratisUryakA zubhA sandhyA । zazizivazakra'zAsthAH zAntaravAH pakSimRgasaGghAH ॥ 21-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविपुलाः प्रदक्षिणचराः स्निग्धमयूखा ग्रहा निरुपसर्गाः । तरवश्च निरुपसृष्टाङ्कुरा नरचतुष्पदा हृष्टाः ॥ २१-१७ ॥
The planets are large, moving in a rightward (auspicious) course, with smooth rays and free from affliction; the trees put forth shoots unharmed, and both men and four-footed animals are joyful.

vipulAH pradakSiNacarAH snigdhamayUkhA grahA nirupasargAH । taravazca nirupasRSTAGkurA naracatuSpadA hRSTAH ॥ 21-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptगर्भाणां पुष्टिकराः सर्वेषां एव यो अत्र तु विशेषः । स्वर्तुस्वभावजनितो गर्भ विवृद्ध्यै तं अभिधास्ये ॥ २१-१८ ॥
That which is nourishing to all embryos is spoken of here as the special factor; born of the natural qualities of each season, it is described for the purpose of the growth and development of the embryo.

garbhANAM puSTikarAH sarveSAM eva yo atra tu vizeSaH । svartusvabhAvajanito garbha vivRddhyai taM abhidhAsye ॥ 21-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपौषे समार्गशीर्षे सन्ध्यारागो अम्बुदाः सपरिवेषाः । नात्यर्थं मृगशीर्षे शीतं पौषे अतिहिमपातः ॥ २१-१९ ॥
In the month of Pauṣa, and also in Mārgaśīrṣa, the twilight is tinged with red, and clouds appear with halos around them. In Mṛgaśīrṣa the cold is not excessive, but in Pauṣa there is a heavy fall of frost and snow.

pauSe samArgazIrSe sandhyArAgo ambudAH sapariveSAH । nAtyarthaM mRgazIrSe zItaM pauSe atihimapAtaH ॥ 21-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमाघे प्रबलो वायुस्तुषारकलुषद्युती रविशशाङ्कौ । अतिशीतं सघनस्य च भानोरस्तोदयौ धन्यौ ॥ २१-२० ॥
In the month of Māgha, the wind is strong, and the radiance of the Sun and the Moon is dimmed by frost; the cold is intense, and for the Sun, both its setting and rising amid dense conditions are auspicious.
