नानाविचित्राम्बुजहंसकोककारण्डवऽपूर्णतडागहस्ता । रत्नैः प्रभूतैः कुसुमैः फलैश्च भूर्यच्छतीवार्घं अगस्त्यनाम्ने ॥ १२-११ ॥
The Earth, by means of her arms, the waves, adorned by the lotus, the swan, the ruddy goose and the water-crow appears to welcome the appearance of Agastya with her offerings of gems, abundant foowers and fruits.

nAnAvicitrAmbujahaMsakokakAraNDava'pUrNataDAgahastA । ratnaiH prabhUtaiH kusumaiH phalaizca bhUryacchatIvArghaM agastyanAmne ॥ 12-11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसलिलं अमरपाज्ञयाउज्झितं यद्धनपरिवेष्टितमूर्तिभिर्भुजङ्गैः । फणिजनितविषाग्निसम्प्रदुष्टं भवति शिवं तदगस्त्यदर्शनेन ॥ १२-१२ ॥
The poisonous and hot waters poured down by cloud-covered serpents by order of Indra become pure and fit for use on the reappearance of the star Canopus.

salilaM amarapAjJayAujjhitaM yaddhanapariveSTitamUrtibhirbhujaGgaiH । phaNijanitaviSAgnisampraduSTaM bhavati zivaM tadagastyadarzanena ॥ 12-12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्मरणादपि पापं अपाकुरुते किं उत स्तुतिभिर्वरुणाङ्गरुहः । मुनिभिः कथितो अस्य यथार्घविधिः कथयामि तथएव नरेन्द्रहितम् ॥ १२-१३ ॥
The very thought (meditation) of the sage Agastya is calculated to wash off one’s sins; his praise (worship) must be capable of doing more. For the benefit, therefore, of princes, I will now speak of the rules of the Arghya (offering) to be presented to Agastya as stated by the Ṛṣis.

smaraNAdapi pApaM apAkurute kiM uta stutibhirvaruNAGgaruhaH । munibhiH kathito asya yathArghavidhiH kathayAmi tathaeva narendrahitam ॥ 12-13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसंख्याविधानात्प्रतिदेशं अस्य विज्ञाय सन्दर्शनं आदिशेज्ज्ञः । तच्च उज्जयिन्याम् अगतस्य कन्यां भागैः स्वराख्यैः स्फुटभास्करस्य ॥ १२-१४ ॥
The time of reappearance of the star Canopus (Agastya) is different in different places; and it is for the learned astronomer to ascertain these times for given places. In the town of Ujjain, the star reappears when the sun just begins to enter the 24th degree of the sign Leo.

saMkhyAvidhAnAtpratidezaM asya vijJAya sandarzanaM AdizejjJaH । tacca ujjayinyAm agatasya kanyAM bhAgaiH svarAkhyaiH sphuTabhAskarasya ॥ 12-14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptईषत्प्रभिन्ने अरुणरश्मिजालैर्नैशे अन्धकारे दिशि दक्षिणस्याम् । सांवत्सरावेदितदिग्विभागे भूपो अर्घं उर्व्यां प्रयतः प्रयच्छेत् ॥ १२-१५ ॥
When the darkness of the night should just begin to be broken by streaks of red light from the eastern horizon, princes, previously prepared for the purpose, ought to offer their Arghyam to Agastya by pouring it on the Earth in the direction of the star Canopus rising in the south-east as will be pointed out by the astronomer.
