समुद्रो अन्तः शैलैर्मकरनखरौत्खातशिखरैः कृतस्तोयौच्छित्त्या सपदि सुतरां येन रुचिरः । पतन्मुक्तामिश्रैः प्रवरमणिरत्नाम्बुनिवहैः सुरान्प्रत्यादेष्टुं मित मुकुटरत्नानिव पुरा ॥ १२-०१ ॥
The mighty ocean whose waters were swallowed by Agastya, exhibited gems that eclipsed the splendour of the crowns of the Devas and rocks broken by the action of the sharks on them and thus presented an appearance beautiful, though without water.

samudro antaH zailairmakaranakharautkhAtazikharaiH kRtastoyaucchittyA sapadi sutarAM yena ruciraH । patanmuktAmizraiH pravaramaNiratnAmbunivahaiH surAnpratyAdeSTuM mita mukuTaratnAniva purA ॥ 12-01 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयेन चाम्बुहरणे अपि विद्रुमैर्भूधरैः समणिरत्नविद्रुमैः । निर्गतैस्तदुरगैश्च राजितः सागरो अधिकतरं विराजितः ॥ १२-०२ ॥
It also exhibited hills with trees, corals and gems and the scene was rendered picturesque by serpents that issued from the rocks.

yena cAmbuharaNe api vidrumairbhUdharaiH samaNiratnavidrumaiH । nirgataistaduragaizca rAjitaH sAgaro adhikataraM virAjitaH ॥ 12-02 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रस्फुरत्तिमिजलेभजिह्मगः क्षिप्तरत्ननिकरो महोदधिः । आपदां पदगतो अपि यापितो येन पीतसलिलो अमरश्रियम् ॥ १२-०३ ॥
It exhibited whales, water elephants, rivers and gems scattered over its bed, and, though deprived of water, presented an appearance splendid as Devaloka.

prasphurattimijalebhajihmagaH kSiptaratnanikaro mahodadhiH । ApadAM padagato api yApito yena pItasalilo amarazriyam ॥ 12-03 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रचलत्तिमिशुक्तिजशङ्खचितः सलिले अपहृते अपि पतिः सरिताम् । सतरङ्गसितोत्पलहंसभृतः सरसः शरदिइव विभर्ति रुचिम् ॥ १२-०४ ॥
There were also seen, moving to and fro, whales, pearl oysters and conch shells, and the sea altogether looked like a summer lake with its moving waves, water lilies and swans.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptतिमिसिताम्बुधरं मणितारकं स्फटिकचन्द्रं अनम्बुशरद्द्युतिः । फणिफणौपलरश्मिशिखिग्रहं कुटिलगेशवियच्च चकार यः ॥ १२-०५ ॥
Its huge white waves looked like clouds; its gems looked like stars; its crystals looked like the Moon; and its long bright serpents bearing gems in their hoods looked like comets and thus the whole sea looked like the sky.
