नरस्य जन्मकाले वा प्रश्नकाले यदंशकः । तदादिनवराशिनामब्दास्तस्यायुरुच्यते ॥ ८५॥

The span of life of a person is determined from the Padas (Ańśas) of the Nakshatr at the time of birth, or the time of query and the years allotted to the 9 Rāśis, commencing from it (the Pad of the Nakshatr).

english translation

narasya janmakAle vA praznakAle yadaMzakaH । tadAdinavarAzinAmabdAstasyAyurucyate ॥ 85॥
