सम्मुख़ो यन्त्रयित्वाऽऽशु न्यस्येन्मर्मादि वर्जयन्। अनुलोमं सुनिशितं शस्त्रमापूयदर्शनात्॥१७॥

Sitting in front of the patient facing him, the physician should incise the swelling quickly with a well sharpened instrument. Incision should be made in the direction of the hairs (from above downward), avoiding vulnerable parts, deep enough till the pus is seen and then removing the instrument quickly.

english translation

sammuqho yantrayitvA''zu nyasyenmarmAdi varjayan। anulomaM sunizitaM zastramApUyadarzanAt॥17॥
