Astanga Hrudaya
कषायं प्रायशः शीतं स्तम्भनं चाभयां विना। रसाः कट्वम्ललवणा वीर्येणोष्णा यथोत्तरम्॥३६॥
Kashaya: Astringents are usually cold (in potency) and obstructive – except Abhaya – Chebulic Myrobalan (fruit rind) – Terminalia chebula. Tastes and potency Hot Potency- Katu (pungent), Amla (sour), Lavana (salt) are of hot potency (Ushna Veerya (potency), each one, more so in their succeeding order;
