through the medium of sunlight (rays), mirror, water etc, is called pratichaya (shadow image) (it is not connected with colour and radiance) that which is connected to these colour and radiance are related to the body only and they are called as chaya.

भवेद्यस्य प्रतिच्चाया चिन्नाभिन्नाधिकाकुला । विशिरा द्विशिरा जिह्मा विकृता यदि वान्यथा ॥ ४४ ॥

Fatal signs related to shadow / image of a person: He, whose shadow / image is found to be cut, torn, more in number, unsteady, headless, double headed, irregular, distorted or any other (unnatural) form, should be considered as completing his life, if these are not due to known causes (intentional creation).
