तिल्वकस्य कषायेण कल्केन च सशर्करः । सघृतः साधितो लेहः स च श्रेष्ठं विरेचनम् ॥ ४१ ॥
Confection prepared with the decoction and paste of tilvaka – Symplocos racemosa along with sugar mixed with ghee and consumed is a best purgative recipe.

tilvakasya kaSAyeNa kalkena ca sazarkaraH । saghRtaH sAdhito lehaH sa ca zreSThaM virecanam ॥ 41 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसुधा भिनत्ति दोषाणां महान्तमपि सञ्चयम् । आश्वेव कष्टविभ्रंशान्नैव तां कल्पयेदतः ॥ ४२ ॥
sudhā – Euphorbia neriifolia quickly breaks up even a massive accumulation of morbid doshas. However, due to its capacity to cause sudden, severe complications or drastic purgation, it should not be routinely prescribed.

sudhA bhinatti doSANAM mahAntamapi saJcayam । Azveva kaSTavibhraMzAnnaiva tAM kalpayedataH ॥ 42 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमृदौ कोष्ठेऽबले बाले स्थविरे दीर्घरोगिणि । कल्प्या गुल्मोदरगरत्वग्रोगमधुमेहिषु ॥ ४३ ॥
Hence, it must not be administered to individuals with soft bowels, the weak, children, the elderly, or those suffering from long-standing (chronic) illnesses. It is appropriately indicated in cases of abdominal tumors (gulma), enlargement of the abdomen (udara), artificial poisoning (gara), skin diseases, and diabetes mellitus (madhumeha).

hk transliteration by Sanscriptपाण्डौ दूषीविषे शोफे दोषविभ्रान्तचेतसि । सा श्रेष्ठा कण्टकैस्तीक्ष्णैर्बहुभिश्च समाचिता ॥ ४४ ॥
It is also used in anemia (pāṇḍu), chronic/latent poisoning (dūṣīviṣa), edema (śopha), and mental disorders caused by highly aggravated doshas. For medicinal purposes, that variety of Euphorbia neriifolia which is densely covered with numerous sharp thorns is considered the best.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptद्विवर्षां वा त्रिवर्षां वा शिशिरान्ते विशेषतः । तां पाटयित्वा शस्त्रेण क्षीरमुद्धारयेत् ततः ॥ ४५ ॥
A plant that is two or three years old should be selected. Especially at the end of the Śiśira (late winter) season, it should be incised with a sharp instrument to collect its milky latex (sap).
