Half a Tulā (2.4 kg) of the root of citraka – Plumbago zeylanica is boiled in one Droṇa (12.288 liters) of water until the liquid is reduced to one-fourth (pāda-sthite). To this decoction, eight Pala (384 grams) of old jaggery (jīrṇa-guḍa) is added, and the mixture is boiled again until it reaches a thick, semi-solid consistency (sāndratayā).
