Chikitsa-sthana, the fourth section of the Sanskrit classic Astanga Hrudaya by Vagbhata (ca. 6th–7th century CE), serves as Ayurveda’s compact manual of therapy. Drawing on Charaka and Sushruta, it organizes practical treatment protocols for fevers, digestive and respiratory complaints, skin and chronic disorders, and conditions of women and children. Central themes are dosha balance, individualized regimen (ahara‑vihara), detoxification and rejuvenation (including early descriptions of panchakarma and rasayana), drug formulations, and prognosis. Written in terse verse, it translates theory into bedside guidance. Today Chikitsa-sthana remains relevant as a source for holistic, preventive and personalized medicine, inspiring herbal research and integrative clinical practice that bridges classical wisdom and modern healthcare needs.
