This aromatic formulation, known as Amlacūrṇa, should be mixed with and sprinkled over vegetable dishes (śāka), lentil soups (sūpa), boiled rice (anna), and sweet-and-sour syrups or condiments (rāga-ṣāḍava). When regularly consumed, it effectively cures cough (kāsa), indigestion (ajīrṇa), anorexia or loss of appetite (aruci), dyspnea or asthma (śvāsa), cardiac disorders (hṛdroga), anemia (pāṇḍu), splenic enlargement (plīhan), and abdominal tumors (gulma).

One should drink the decoction (kvātha) prepared from nāgara – Zingiber officinale, ativiṣā – Aconitum heterophyllum, and musta – Cyperus rotundus to digest and eliminate toxic metabolic waste (āma). Alternatively, the paste (kalka) of these very herbs, or the paste of nāgara alone, or the paste of abhayā – Terminalia chebula alone, may be consumed along with hot water.

In the same manner, the paste of the herbs beginning with vacā (the vacādi group) mixed with rock salt (saindhava) should be taken with hot water, or it may be administered alongside madirā (medicinal fermented liquor). If the feces are heavily laden with āma (undigested toxic waste) and are eliminated with persistent straining (sapravāha), one should drink the paste of biḍa salt ground thoroughly with the juice or decoction of dāḍima – Punica granatum.
