तस्य अकरणे वा समाहर्ता कार्यम् अपदिश्य पौर जानपदान् भिक्षेत ॥
Those who, of their own accord or with the intention of doing good, offer their wealth to the king shall be honoured with a rank in the court,
english translation
tasya akaraNe vA samAhartA kAryam apadizya paura jAnapadAn bhikSeta ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयोग पुरुषाश् च अत्र पूर्वम् अतिमात्रं दद्युः ॥
an umbrella, or a turban or some ornaments in return for their gold.
english translation
yoga puruSAz ca atra pUrvam atimAtraM dadyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएतेन प्रदेशेन राजा पौर जानपदान् भिक्षेत ॥
By this arrangement, the king shall collect (what is needed) from the townspeople and the villagers.

etena pradezena rAjA paura jAnapadAn bhikSeta ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकापटिकाश् च एनान् अल्पं प्रयच्छतः कुत्सयेयुः ॥
And the fraudulent (or deceitful) ones, if they give them only a small amount, should be reproached (or condemned).
english translation
kApaTikAz ca enAn alpaM prayacchataH kutsayeyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसारतो वा हिरण्यम् आढ्यान् याचेत, यथा उपकारं वा, स्व वशा वा यद् उपहरेयुः ॥
Or having on some night set up a god or an altar, or having opened a sacred place of ascetics or having pointed out an evil omen, the king may collect subsistence under the pretence of holding processions and congregations (to avert calamities).

sArato vA hiraNyam ADhyAn yAceta, yathA upakAraM vA, sva vazA vA yad upahareyuH ॥
