Arthashastra
दोष शुद्धिर् बल आवापः सत्त्र स्थान अतिसंहितम् । संधिश् च उत्तर पक्षस्य बल व्यसन साधनम् ॥
Removal of vices and troubles, recruitment (of new men), keeping away from places of an enemy's ambush, and harmony among the officers of the army, are the means of protecting the army from troubles.
english translation
doSa zuddhir bala AvApaH sattra sthAna atisaMhitam । saMdhiz ca uttara pakSasya bala vyasana sAdhanam ॥
