लम्भ पालनो हि दण्डः कोशस्य, कोशः कोशस्य दण्डस्य च भवति ॥

"मित्रम् अभृतं व्यवहितं च कर्म करोति, पार्ष्णि ग्राहम् आसारम् अमित्रम् आटविकं च प्रतिकरोति, कोश दण्ड भूमिभिश् च उपकरोति व्यसन अवस्था योगम्" इति ॥
though he is not fed
and is far off, is still serviceable; he drives off not only the
rear-enemy and the friends of the rear-enemy, but also the frontal
enemy and wild tribes; he also helps his friend with money, army,
and lands on occasions of troubles.
