ये च अप्य् अस्मबन्धिनो अवश्य भर्तव्यास् ते लक्षणम् अङ्ग विद्यां जम्भक विद्यां माया गतम् आश्रम धर्मं निमित्तम् अन्तर चक्रम् इत्य् अधीयानाः सत्त्रिणः, संसर्ग विद्यां च ॥
THOSE orphans (asambandhinah) who are to be necessarily fed by the state and are put to study science, palmistry (angavidya), sorcery (máyágata), the duties of the various orders of religious life, legerdemain (jambhakavidya), and the reading of omens and augury (antara-chakra), are classmate spies or spies learning by social intercourse (samsargavidyasatrinah).
english translation
ye ca apy asmabandhino avazya bhartavyAs te lakSaNam aGga vidyAM jambhaka vidyAM mAyA gatam Azrama dharmaM nimittam antara cakram ity adhIyAnAH sattriNaH, saMsarga vidyAM ca ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptये जनपदे शूरास् त्यक्त आत्मानो हस्तिनं व्यालं वा द्रव्य हेतोः प्रतियोधयेयुस् ते तीक्ष्णाः ॥
Such brave desperados of the country who, reckless of their own life, confront elephants or tigers in fight mainly for the purpose of earning money are termed firebrands or fiery spies (tíkshna).
english translation
ye janapade zUrAs tyakta AtmAno hastinaM vyAlaM vA dravya hetoH pratiyodhayeyus te tIkSNAH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptये बन्धुषु निह्स्नेहाः क्रूरा अलसाश् च ते रसदाः ॥
Those who have no trace of filial affection left in them and who are very cruel and indolent are poisoners (rasada).
english translation
ye bandhuSu nihsnehAH krUrA alasAz ca te rasadAH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपरिव्राजिका वृत्ति कामा दरिद्रा विधवा प्रगल्भा ब्राह्मण्य् अन्तःपुरे कृत सत्कारा महा मात्र कुलान्य् अभिगच्छेत् ॥
A poor widow of Bráhman caste, very clever, and desirous to earn her livelihood is a woman ascetic (parivrájiká). Honoured in the king's harem, such a woman shall frequent the residences of the king's prime ministers (mahámátrakuláni).
english translation
parivrAjikA vRtti kAmA daridrA vidhavA pragalbhA brAhmaNy antaHpure kRta satkArA mahA mAtra kulAny abhigacchet ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएतया मुण्डा वृषल्यो व्याख्याताः ॥ इति संचाराः ।
The same rule shall apply to women with shaved head (munda), as well as to those of súdra caste. All these are wandering spies (sancháráh).

etayA muNDA vRSalyo vyAkhyAtAH ॥ iti saMcArAH ।
