Arthashastra
ये जनपदे शूरास् त्यक्त आत्मानो हस्तिनं व्यालं वा द्रव्य हेतोः प्रतियोधयेयुस् ते तीक्ष्णाः ॥
Such brave desperados of the country who, reckless of their own life, confront elephants or tigers in fight mainly for the purpose of earning money are termed firebrands or fiery spies (tíkshna).
