मुद्गर अङ्काद् अन्यद् वासः परिदधानास् त्रि पणं दण्डं दद्युः ॥
Washermen wearing clothes other than such as are stamped with the mark of a cudgel shall be fined three panas.

mudgara aGkAd anyad vAsaH paridadhAnAs tri paNaM daNDaM dadyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपर वस्त्र विक्रय अवक्रय आधानेषु च द्वादश पणो दण्डः, परिवर्तने मूल्य द्वि गुणो वस्त्र दानं च ॥
For selling, mortgaging, or letting out for hire the clothes of others, a fine of 12 panas shall be imposed. In case of substitution of other clothes, they shall not only be punished with a fine equal to twice the value of the clothes, but also be made to restore the true ones.

para vastra vikraya avakraya AdhAneSu ca dvAdaza paNo daNDaH, parivartane mUlya dvi guNo vastra dAnaM ca ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमुकुल अवदातं शिला पट्ट शुद्धं धौत सूत्र वर्णं प्रमृष्ट श्वेतं च एक रात्र उत्तरं दद्युः ॥
For keeping for more than a night clothes which are to be made as white as a jasmin flower, or which are to attain the natural colour of their threads on washing on the surface of stones, or which are to be made whiter merely by removing their dirt by washing, proportional fines shall be imposed.

mukula avadAtaM zilA paTTa zuddhaM dhauta sUtra varNaM pramRSTa zvetaM ca eka rAtra uttaraM dadyuH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपञ्च रात्रिकं तनु रागं, षड् रात्रिकं नीलं, पुष्प लाक्षा मञ्जिष्ठा रक्तं गुरु परिकर्म यत्न उपचार्यं जात्यं वासः सप्त रात्रिकम् ॥
For keeping for more than 5 nights such clothes as are to be given thin colouring, for more than six nights such as are to be made blue, for more than 7 nights such as are to be made either as white as flowers or as beautiful and shiny as lac, saffron, or blood and such clothes as require much skill and care in making brilliant, wages shall be forfeited.
