धिग् उक्त्य् आदिषु सर्वेषु यज्ञ प्रहवणेषु वा । सूतिका प्रेत रोगेषु प्रीति शोक भयेषु वा ।
Wherever he may be careless in uttering such words of rebuke as "Tut" or on the occasions of sacrificial performance or during the accouchement of women or at the time of death or disease (of some person in the palace), or at the time of love, sorrow, or fear.
english translation
dhig ukty AdiSu sarveSu yajJa prahavaNeSu vA । sUtikA preta rogeSu prIti zoka bhayeSu vA ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptप्रमादं याति यस्मिन् वा विश्वासात् स्व जन उत्सवे ॥ यत्र अस्य आरक्षि संचारो दुर्दिने संकुलेषु वा ।
Whatever may be the festivities of his own men, which the king goes to attend, wherever he is unguarded or during a cloudy day, or in the tumultuous concourse of people.
english translation
pramAdaM yAti yasmin vA vizvAsAt sva jana utsave ॥ yatra asya ArakSi saMcAro durdine saMkuleSu vA ।
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविप्र स्थाने प्रदीप्ते वा प्रविष्टे निर्जने अपि वा । वस्त्र आभरण माल्यानां फेलाभिः शयन आसनैः ॥
Or in an assembly of Bráhmans, or whenever he may go in person to see the outbreak of fire, or when, he is in a lonely place, or when he is putting on dress or ornaments, or garlands of flower, or when he is lying in his bed or sitting on a seat.
english translation
vipra sthAne pradIpte vA praviSTe nirjane api vA । vastra AbharaNa mAlyAnAM phelAbhiH zayana AsanaiH ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमद्य भोजन फेलाभिस् तूर्यैर् वा अभिगताः सह । प्रहरेयुर् अरिं तीक्ष्णाः पूर्व प्रणिहितैः सह ॥
Or when he is eating or drinking, on these and other occasions, spies, together with other persons previously hidden at those places, may strike him down at the sound of trumpets.
english translation
madya bhojana phelAbhis tUryair vA abhigatAH saha । prahareyur ariM tIkSNAH pUrva praNihitaiH saha ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयथैव प्रविशेयुश् च द्विषतः सत्त्र हेतुभिः । तथैव च अपगच्छेयुर् इत्य् उक्तं योग वामनम् ॥
And they may get out as secretly as they came there with the pretence of witnessing the sights; thus it is that kings and other persons are enticed to come out and be captured.
english translation
yathaiva pravizeyuz ca dviSataH sattra hetubhiH । tathaiva ca apagaccheyur ity uktaM yoga vAmanam ॥
