तस्य पूर्व उत्तरं भागम् आचार्य पुरोहित इज्या तोय स्थानं मन्त्रिणश् च आवसेयुः, पूर्व दक्षिणं भाग्म् महानसं हस्ति शाला कोष्ठ अगारं च ॥
Royal teachers, priests, sacrificial place, water-reservoir and ministers shall occupy sites east by north to the palace. Royal kitchen, elephant stables, and the store-house shall be situated on sites east by south.

ततः परं गन्ध माल्य रस पण्याः प्रसाधन कारवः क्षत्रियाश् च पूर्वां दिशम् अधिवसेयुः ॥
On the eastern side, merchants trading in scents, garlands, grains, and liquids, together with expert artisans and the people of Kshatriya caste shall have their habitations.

दक्षिण पूर्वं भागं भाण्ड अगारम् अक्ष पटलं कर्म निषद्याश् च, दक्षिण पश्चिमं भागं कुप्य गृहम् आयुध अगारं च ॥
The treasury, the accountant‟s office, and various manufactories (karmanishadyáscha) shall be situated on sites south by east. The store-house of forest produce and the arsenal shall be constructed on sites south by west.
