व्याधिता न्यङ्गा अनन्य दोही दुर्दोहा पुत्रघ्नीनां च सम विभागं रूप शतं पालयन्तस् तज् जातिकं भागं दद्युः । इति भग्न उत्षृष्टकम् ॥
When those who rear a hundred heads made up of equal numbers of each of afflicted cattle, crippled cattle, cattle that cannot be milked by any one but the accustomed person, cattle that are not easily milked, and cattle that kill their own calves give in return (to the owner) a share in dairy produce, it is termed „useless and abandoned herd.‟

vyAdhitA nyaGgA ananya dohI durdohA putraghnInAM ca sama vibhAgaM rUpa zataM pAlayantas taj jAtikaM bhAgaM dadyuH । iti bhagna utSRSTakam ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपर चक्र अटवी भयाद् अनुप्रविष्टानां पशूनां पालन धर्मेण दश भगं दद्युः । इति भाग अनुप्रविष्टकम् ॥
When under the fear of cattle-lifting enemies (parachakrátavibhayát), cattle are kept under the care of the superintendent, giving him 1/10th of the dairy produce for his protection, it is termed "herds maintained for a share in dairy produce."

para cakra aTavI bhayAd anupraviSTAnAM pazUnAM pAlana dharmeNa daza bhagaM dadyuH । iti bhAga anupraviSTakam ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवत्सा वत्सतरा दम्या वहिनो वृषा उक्षाणश् च पुंगवाः, युग वाहन शकट वहा वृषभाः सूना महिषाः पृष्ट स्कन्ध वाहिनश् च महिषाः, वत्सिका वत्सतरी पष्टहुही गर्भिणी धेनुश् च अप्रजाता वन्ध्याश् च गावो महिष्यश् च, मास द्वि मास जातास् तासाम् उपजा वत्सा वत्सिकाश् च ॥
When the superintendent classifies cattle as calves, steers, tameable ones, draught oxen, bulls that are to be trained to yoke, bulls kept for crossing cows, cattle that are fit only for the supply of flesh, buffaloes and draught buffaloes; female calves, female steer, heifer, pregnant cows, milch cattle, barren cattle---either cows or buffaloes; calves that are a month or two old as well as those which are still younger

vatsA vatsatarA damyA vahino vRSA ukSANaz ca puMgavAH, yuga vAhana zakaTa vahA vRSabhAH sUnA mahiSAH pRSTa skandha vAhinaz ca mahiSAH, vatsikA vatsatarI paSTahuhI garbhiNI dhenuz ca aprajAtA vandhyAz ca gAvo mahiSyaz ca, mAsa dvi mAsa jAtAs tAsAm upajA vatsA vatsikAz ca ॥

and when, as he ought to, he brands them all inclusive of their calves of one or two months old along.
