नागाः पिशाचा गन्धर्वाः पितरो यक्षराक्षसाः | अभिद्रवन्ति ये ये त्वां ब्रह्माद्या घ्नन्तु तान् सदा ||२१||

sanskrit

Snakes (nāgāḥ), ghosts (piśācāḥ), celestial beings (gandharvāḥ), ancestors (pitaraḥ), and beings such as yakṣas and rākṣasas (yakṣa-rākṣasāḥ)—all these (ye ye) who might harm you (tvāṃ), may they always be destroyed (ghnantu tān sadā) by Brahmā and others (brahmādya). This verse invokes the protection from various supernatural entities that might cause harm, requesting their destruction by divine and spiritual forces.

english translation

nAgAH pizAcA gandharvAH pitaro yakSarAkSasAH | abhidravanti ye ye tvAM brahmAdyA ghnantu tAn sadA ||21||

hk transliteration

पृथिव्यामन्तरीक्षे च ये चरन्ति निशाचराः | दिक्षु वास्तुनिवासाश्च पान्तु त्वां ते नमस्कृताः ||२२||

sanskrit

May those who wander in the earth (pṛthivyām), the sky (antarīkṣe), and those who are nocturnal beings (niśācarāḥ)—and those who reside in all directions (dikṣu), protect you (pāntu tvāṃ). They who are honored (te namaskṛtāḥ). This verse calls for the protection of the person from various entities and beings that roam or reside in different realms and directions, showing reverence to those who protect.

pRthivyAmantarIkSe ca ye caranti nizAcarAH | dikSu vAstunivAsAzca pAntu tvAM te namaskRtAH ||22||

पान्तु त्वां मुनयो ब्राह्मया दिव्या राजर्षयस्तथा | पर्वताश्चैव नद्यश्च सर्वाः सर्वे च सागराः ||२३||

sanskrit

May the sages (munayaḥ), the divine Brahmins (brāhmaṇāḥ), the royal sages (rājaṛṣayaḥ), the mountains (parvatāḥ), the rivers (nadyaḥ), and all the seas (sāgarāḥ) protect you (pāntu tvāṃ). This verse seeks the protection and blessing from various revered entities, including sages, divine beings, royal sages, natural features like mountains and rivers, and the oceans.

pAntu tvAM munayo brAhmayA divyA rAjarSayastathA | parvatAzcaiva nadyazca sarvAH sarve ca sAgarAH ||23||

अग्नी रक्षतु ते जिह्वां प्राणान् वायुस्तथैव च | सोमो व्यानमपानं ते पर्जन्यः परिरक्षतु ||२४||

May Agni (agnī) protect your tongue (jihvāṃ), may Vāyu (vāyuḥ) protect your life (prāṇān), may Soma (somaḥ) protect your vital breaths (vyānaṃ and apānaṃ), and may Parjanya (parjanyaḥ) protect you. This verse invokes various deities to safeguard different aspects of the body and life, highlighting the roles of Agni, Vāyu, Soma, and Parjanya in protection and health.

agnI rakSatu te jihvAM prANAn vAyustathaiva ca | somo vyAnamapAnaM te parjanyaH parirakSatu ||24||

उदानं विद्युतः पान्तु समानं स्तनयित्नवः | बलमिन्द्रो बलपतिर्मनुर्मन्ये मतिं तथा ||२५||

May Udāna (udānaṃ) be protected by lightning (vidyut), may the equalizing forces (samānaṃ) protect the breast (stanayitnavaḥ), may Indra (indraḥ) protect strength (balam), and may the guardian of strength (balapatiḥ) and Manu (manuḥ) protect understanding (matiṃ) and mental faculties (manaye). This verse continues the protection prayers, focusing on different aspects of physical and mental strength, invoking deities associated with these elements.
