सर्वशरीराबाधकरं शल्यं, तदिहोपदिश्यत इत्यतः [३] शल्यशास्त्रम् ॥५॥
A splinter that causes disturbance to the entire body is what is referred to here. Thus, this is the science of splinters.

वह शल जो शरीर को पूरी तरह से प्रभावित करता है, वही यहाँ पर वर्णित है। अतः यही शल्यशास्त्र है।
