व्रणं कषायः सन्धत्ते रक्तं स्कन्दयते हिमम् । तथा सम्पाचयेद्भस्म दाहः सङ्कोचयेत् सिराः ॥४०॥
The astringent heals wounds, the blood coagulates, and cold causes contraction. Ash helps in healing burns, and heat causes contraction.
