मुखरोगाः पञ्चषष्टिर्भवन्ति सप्तस्वायतनेषु | तत्रायतनानि- ओष्ठौ, दन्तमूलानि, दन्ताः, जिह्वा, तालु, कण्ठः, सर्वाणि चेति | तत्राष्टावोष्ठयोः, पञ्चदश दन्तमूलेषु, अष्टौ दन्तेषु, पञ्च जिह्वायां, नव तालुनि, सप्तदश कण्ठे, त्रयः सर्वेष्वायतनेषु ||३||

There are fifty-six types of mouth diseases, occurring in seven locations: the lips, the roots of the teeth, the teeth themselves, the tongue, the palate, the throat, and in all regions. Among these, there are eight types in the lips, fifteen in the roots of the teeth, eight in the teeth, five in the tongue, nine in the palate, seventeen in the throat, and three in all regions.

मुख रोगों की पचपन किस्में होती हैं, जो सात स्थानों में होती हैं: ओष्ठ, दन्तमूल, दन्त, जिह्वा, तालु, कण्ठ, और सभी स्थानों में। इनमें ओष्ठ में आठ, दन्तमूल में पंद्रह, दन्त में आठ, जिह्वा में पाँच, तालु में नौ, कण्ठ में सत्रह, और सभी स्थानों में तीन प्रकार के रोग होते हैं।

In those cases, the disturbances in the lips are caused by the imbalance of Vata, Pitta, Kapha, the combination of these doshas, as well as by injury to blood, flesh, and fat.
