शोफं न पक्वमिति पक्वमुपेक्षते यो यो वा व्रणं प्रचुरपूयमसाधुवृत्तः । अभ्यन्तरं प्रविशति प्रविदार्य तस्य स्थानानि पूर्वविहितानि ततः स पूयः ॥९॥
A swelling that is not resolved is neglected by those who have a wound filled with excessive pus and poor quality. When this pus enters internally, it will cause the same conditions as previously described; thus, it is the pus.
english translation
जो शोफ पक्व नहीं है, उसे वे लोग नजरअंदाज करते हैं जिनके व्रण में अत्यधिक पूय और असाधु गुण होते हैं। जब यह पूय अंदर प्रवेश करता है, तो यह पहले बताई गई स्थितियों का कारण बनेगा; इसलिए, यही पूय है।
