वातशोणितजः शोफो जानुमध्ये महारुजः । शिरः क्रोष्टुकपूर्वं तु स्थूलः क्रोष्टुकमूर्धवत् ॥७६॥
A swelling due to Vata and blood disorders, located in the middle of the knee, is known as "Maharuj." This swelling is large and resembles the swelling at the top of the skull.

When Vata, situated in the waist, causes a swelling in the hip joint, the person becomes lame. This results in weakness in both the hips and legs.
