Just as the gods in heaven enjoy happiness free from mental and physical distress, so do mortals on earth attain happiness upon obtaining these remedies.

अथ खलु सप्त पुरुषा रसायनं नोपयुञ्जीरन्; तद्यथा- अनात्मवानलसो दरिद्रः प्रमादी व्यसनी पापकृद् भेषजापमानी चेति | सप्तभिरेव कारणैर्न सम्पद्यते; तद्यथा- अज्ञानादनारम्भादस्थिरचित्तत्वाद्दारिद्र्यादनायत्तत्वादधर्मादौषधालाभाच्चेति ||४||

Now, indeed, there are seven types of individuals who are unfit to utilize the tonic remedies, namely: the unintelligent, the lazy, the indigent, the unwise, the immoral, the sinful, and those who reject medicine. These seven types of individuals are rendered unfit due to their respective causes: ignorance, inactivity, instability of mind, poverty, irresponsibility, immorality, and inability to acquire genuine medicines.

Now, we will describe the medicines: namely, Ajagari, Shvetakapoti, Krishnakapoti, Gonasī, Varāhī, Kanyā, Chatrā, Atichatrā, Kareṇu, Aja, Chakraka, Ādityaparnī, Brahmasuvarcalā, Śrāvaṇī, Mahāśrāvaṇī, Golomī, Ajalomī, Mahāvegavatī—these are eighteen powerful medicines of the moon’s potency. Their activities, praises, and functions are described in the scriptures. Among these, those that are referred to as milky should be used with a milk vessel at least once, while those that are referred to as non-milky should have three root samples established as proof. The whole plant of Shvetakapoti should be consumed; the mixture of Ajagari, Krishnakapoti, and Gonasī should be prepared with milk after dividing into sections. The milk of Chakraka should be used once, while Brahmasuvarcalā should be consumed for seven nights as a food preparation. The remaining five parts of each should be boiled in milk and then poured out, used once. The consumption and behavior of the moon-like ones have been explained, but only clarified for the purpose of the new butter; the remaining details derive from the moon-like ones.
