प्रतानवांस्तालवृन्तः करवीरोंऽशवानपि । स्वयम्प्रभो महासोमो यश्चापि गरुडाहृतः ॥६॥

One who intends to worship any of these Soma deities should prepare himself with all necessary items and services, in an auspicious place, and construct a three-room house. After purifying himself, taking pure food, and aligning with auspicious lunar dates, signs, moments, and stars, he should take the Soma plant with sunlight, prepared for the ritual. Having made offerings, and with auspicious blessings recited, he should split the Soma root with a golden needle and collect its juice in a golden (or silver) vessel, about one handful. Then, he should partake only once, without eating anything else. Thereafter, after purifying himself and disposing of the remainder in water, he should maintain restraint with proper conduct and, while remaining calm, be served by friends.
