तात्कालिकेन्दुविक्षेपम् छाद्यच्छादकमानयोः। योगार्धात् प्रोज्झ्य यच्छेषम् तावच् छन्नम् तद् उच्यते॥

sanskrit

Take the Moon's latitude (at syzygy) from half the sum of the diameter of that which is to be covered and that of the coverer (in a lunar or solar eclipse); the remainder is the greatest quantity of the eclipsed part of the disc.

english translation

tAtkAlikenduvikSepam chAdyacchAdakamAnayoH। yogArdhAt projjhya yaccheSam tAvac channam tad ucyate॥
