*दक्षिणोत्तरतो +अप्य् एवम् पातो *राहुः स्वरम्हसा । (C दक्षिणोत्तरयोर्, राहुश् च रम्हसा) विक्षिपत्य् एष विक्षेपम् चन्द्रादीनाम् अपक्रमात् ॥

In the same way, the Deity node named Ráhu by its power deflects the planet, such as the Moon, to the north or to the south from (the end of) the declination (of its corresponding point at the ecliptic). This deflection is called Vikshepa (celestial latitude).

उत्तराभिमुखम् पातो विक्षिपत्य् अपरार्धगः । ग्रहम् प्राग्भगणार्धस्थो याम्यायाम् अपकर्षति ॥

The Deity node draws the planet to the north or to the south (from the ecliptic) according as the node is west or east of the planet at a distance less than six signs.

बुधभार्गवयोः शीघ्रात् तद्वत् पातो *यदा स्थितः । तच्छीघ्राकर्षणात् तौ तु विक्षिप्येते यथोक्तवत् ॥

(But in respect of Mercury and Venus) when their Pátas (or nodes) are in the same direction at the same distance (as mentioned in the preceding Sloka) from their Śíghrochchas, they deflect in the same manner (as mentioned before) by the attractions of their Śíghrochchas.

महत्वान् मण्डलस्यार्कः स्वल्पम् एवापकृष्यते । मण्डलाल्पतया चन्द्रस् ततो बह्व् अपकृष्यते ॥

The attraction of the Sun (by its apogee) is very small by reason of the bulkiness of its body, but that of the Moon is greater than that of the Sun, on account of the smallness of the Moon's body.

भौमादयो +अल्पमूर्तित्वाच् छीघ्रमन्दोच्चसञ्ज्ञकैः । दैवतैर् अपकृष्यन्ते सुदूरम् अतिवेगिताः॥

As the bodies of the (five) minor planets. Mars, &c. are very small, they are attracted by the Deities Śíghrochcha and Mandochcha very violently.
