अतो धनर्णम् सुमहत् तेषाम् गतिवशाद् भवेत् । आकृष्यमाणास् तैर् एवम् व्योम्नि यान्त्य् अनिलाहताः॥
And for this reason, the additive or subtractive equation of tbe minor planets caused by their movement (which is produced by the attraction by their Uchchas) is very great. Thus, the minor planets, being attracted by their Śíghrochcha and Mandochcha and carried by the wind Pravaha, move in the heavens.

*वक्रातिवक्रा विकला मन्दा मन्दतरा समा । (C वक्रानुवक्रा) तथा शीघ्रतरा शीघ्रा ग्रहाणाम् अष्टधा गतिः॥
(And therefore) the motion of the planets is of eight kinds, i. e. I. Vakrá (decreasing retrograde motion). II. Ativakrá (increasing retrograde motion). III. Vikalá (stationary). IV. Mandá (increasing direct motion less than the mean motion). V. Mandatará (decreasing direct motion less than the mean motion). VI. Samá (mean motion). VII. Śíghratara or Atiśíghrá (increasing direct motion greater than the mean motion). VIII. Śíghrá (decreasing direct motion greater than the mean motion).

तत्रातिशीघ्रा शीघ्राख्या मन्दा मन्दतरा समा ।ऋज्वीति पञ्चधा ज्ञेया *या वक्रा सातिवक्रगा ॥(C +अन्या वक्रादिका मता)
Of these kinds, the five motions Atiśíghrá, Śíghrá, Mandá, Mandatabá and Samá are direct and the two motions Vakrá and Ativakrá are retrograde.

तत्तद्गतिवशान् नित्यम् यथा दृक्तुल्यताम् ग्रहाः । प्रयान्ति तत् प्रवक्ष्यामि स्फुटीकरणम् आदरात् ॥
(Now) I explain carefully the Rules for finding the true places (of the planets) in such a manner that the places found by the Rules coincide with those, determined by observation, of the planets which move constantly with various motions.

राशिलिप्ताष्टमो भागः प्रथमम् ज्यार्धम् उच्यते । तत् तद्विभक्तलब्धोनमिश्रितम् तद् द्वितीयकम् ॥
The eighth part of the number minutes contained in a sign (i. e. 1800) is the first sine. Divide the first sine by itself, subtract the quotient from that sine, and add the remainder to that sine: the sum will be the second sine.
