ब्राह्मम् दिव्यम् तथा पित्र्यम् प्राजापत्यम् गुरोस् तथा । सौरम् च सावनम् चान्द्रम् आर्क्षम् मानानि वै नव॥
There are nine measures (mana), Brahma (of Brahma), daiva (of demigods), pitrya (of ancestors), präjäpätya (of Prajapati), båhraspatya (of Jupiter), saura (solar), abana (civil), cändra (lunar) and näkshatra (sidereal).
english translation
चतुर्भिर् व्यवहारो +अत्र सौरचान्द्रार्क्षसावनैः। बार्हस्पत्येन षष्ट्यब्दम् ज्ञेयम् नान्यैस् तु नित्यशः॥
Four amongst these have been used, soura (solar), cändra (lunar), näkshtrika (sidereal) and sävana (civil). The Jupiter-measure has to be known in order to know about the cycle of sixty years. The rest are not needed for everyday use.

सौरेण द्युनिशोर् मानम् षडशीतिमुखानि च । अयनम् विषुवच्चैव सम्क्रान्तेः पुण्यकालता॥
The length of day and night, shadaçéti etc., solstice (ayana), equinox (vishuvat), propitious period of the sun’s entrance into a sign (sankränti), etc. are all calculated using the saurya (solar) standard.

तुलादि षडशीत्यह्नाम् षडशीतिमुखम् क्रमात् । तच्चतुष्टयम् एव स्याद् द्विस्वभावेषु राशिषु॥
Shadaçéti occurs at sixty days in succession, beginning with Libra. The four that are there are situated in räçis with double nature (dwibhava).

षड्विम्शे धनुषो भागे द्वाविम्शे निमिषस्य च । मिथुनाष्टादशे भागे कन्यायास् तु चतुर्दश॥
The first shadaçéti is at the 26th degree of Sagittarius. The second one is at the 26th degree of Pisces; the third one is at 28th degree of Gemini, the fourth one is at the 14th degree of Virgo.
