महाभिषेकविधिना सर्वोपस्करसम्पदा । अभिषिच्याम्बराकल्पैर्गन्धमाल्यार्हणादिभिः ।। ९-४-३१ ।।

sanskrit

Following the regulative principles of mahābhiṣeka, Mahārāja Ambarīṣa performed the bathing ceremony for the Deity of Lord Kṛṣṇa with all paraphernalia, and then he dressed the Deity with fine clothing, ornaments, fragrant flower garlands and other paraphernalia for worship of the Lord. ।। 9-4-31 ।।

english translation

महाभिषेक के विधि-विधानों के अनुसार महाराज अम्बरीष ने सारी सामग्री से भगवान् कृष्ण के अर्चाविग्रह को स्नान कराया। फिर उन्हें सुन्दर वस्त्रों, आभूषणों, सुगन्धित फूलों की मालाओं तथा पूजा की अन्य सामग्री से अलंकृत किया। ।। ९-४-३१ ।।

With attention and devotion, he worshiped Kṛṣṇa and all the greatly fortunate brāhmaṇas who were free from material desires. ।। 9-4-32 ।।

english translation

उन्होंने ध्यानपूर्वक तथा भक्तिपूर्वक कृष्ण की तथा भौतिक इच्छाओं से मुक्त परम भाग्यशाली ब्राह्मणों की पूजा की। ।। ९-४-३उन्होंने ध्यानपूर्वक तथा भक्तिपूर्वक कृष्ण की तथा भौतिक इच्छाओं से मुक्त परम भाग्यशाली ब्राह्मणों की पूजा की। ।। ९-४-३२ ।।

गवां रुक्मविषाणीनां रूप्याङ्घ्रीणां सुवाससाम् । पयःशीलवयोरूपवत्सोपस्करसम्पदाम् ।। ९-४-३३ ।।

Thereafter, Mahārāja Ambarīṣa satisfied all the guests who arrived at his house, especially the brāhmaṇas. He gave in charity sixty crores of cows whose horns were covered with gold plate and whose hooves were covered with silver plate. All the cows were well decorated with garments and had full milk bags. They were mild-natured, young and beautiful and were accompanied by their calves. ।। 9-4-33 ।।

english translation

तत्पश्चात् महाराज अम्बरीष ने अपने घर में आये सारे अतिथियों को, विशेषकर ब्राह्मणों को संतुष्ट किया। उन्होंने दान में साठ करोड़ गौवें दीं जिनके सींग सोने के पत्तर से और खुर चाँदी के पत्तर से मढ़े थे। सारी गौवें वस्त्रों से खूब सजाई गई थीं और उनके थन दूध से भरे थे। वे सुशील, तरुण तथा सुन्दर थीं और अपने-अपने बछड़ों के साथ थीं। ।। ९-४-३३ ।।

प्राहिणोत्साधुविप्रेभ्यो गृहेषु न्यर्बुदानि षट् । भोजयित्वा द्विजानग्रे स्वाद्वन्नं गुणवत्तमम् ।। ९-४-३४ ।।

After giving these cows, the King first sumptuously fed all the brāhmaṇas, and when they were fully satisfied, he was about to observe the end of Ekādaśī, with their permission, by breaking the fast. ।। 9-4-34 ।।

english translation

इन गौवों का दान देने के बाद राजा ने सर्वप्रथम सारे ब्राह्मणों को पेटभर भोजन कराया और जब वे पूरी तरह संतुष्ट हो गये तो वे उनकी आज्ञा से एकादशी व्रत तोडक़र उस का पारण करने वाले थे। ।। ९-४-३४ ।।

Exactly at that time, however, Durvāsā Muni, the great and powerful mystic, appeared on the scene as an uninvited guest. ।। 9-4-35 ।।

किन्तु ठीक उसी समय महान् एवं शक्तिशाली दुर्वासा मुनि अनामंत्रित अतिथि के रूप में वहाँ पर प्रकट हुए। ।। ९-४-३५ ।।
