तं वव्रिरे सुरगणा स्वस्रीयं द्विषतामपि । विमतेन परित्यक्ता गुरुणाङ्गिरसेन यत् ॥ ६-६-४५ ॥
Although Viśvarūpa was the son of the daughter of their eternal enemies the demons, the demigods accepted him as their priest in accordance with the order of Brahmā when they were abandoned by their spiritual master, Bṛhaspati, whom they had disrespected. ॥ 6-6-45 ॥

यद्यपि विश्वरूप देवताओं के कट्टर शत्रु असुरों की पुत्री का पुत्र था, किन्तु उन्होंने ब्रह्मा की आज्ञा से उसे अपना पुरोहित बनाना स्वीकार किया। देवताओं द्वारा अपमान किये जाने पर गुरु बृहस्पति ने इनका परित्याग कर दिया था, इसीलिए इन्हें पुरोहित की आवश्यकता पड़ी। ॥ ६-६-४५ ॥
