प्रायेण वेद तदिदं न महाजनोऽयं देव्या विमोहितमतिर्बत माययालम् । त्रय्यां जडीकृतमतिर्मधुपुष्पितायां वैतानिके महति कर्मणि युज्यमानः ।। ६-३-२५ ।।

Because they are bewildered by the illusory energy of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Yājñavalkya and Jaimini and other compilers of the religious scriptures cannot know the secret, confidential religious system of the twelve mahājanas. They cannot understand the transcendental value of performing devotional service or chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra. Because their minds are attracted to the ritualistic ceremonies mentioned in the Vedas — especially the Yajur Veda, Sāma Veda and Ṛg Veda — their intelligence has become dull. Thus they are busy collecting the ingredients for ritualistic ceremonies that yield only temporary benefits, such as elevation to Svargaloka for material happiness. They are not attracted to the saṅkīrtana movement; instead, they are interested in dharma, artha, kāma and mokṣa. ।। 6-3-25 ।।

english translation

पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् की माया द्वारा मोहग्रस्त होने के कारण याज्ञवल्क्य, जैमिनि तथा अन्य शास्त्रप्रणेता भी बारह महाजनों की गुह्य धार्मिक प्रणाली को नहीं जान सकते। वे भक्ति करने या हरे कृष्ण मंत्र का कीर्तन करने के दिव्य महत्त्व को नहीं समझ सकते। चूँकि उनके मन वेदों—विशेषतया यजुर्वेद, सामवेद तथा ऋग्वेद में उल्लिखित कर्मकाण्डों के प्रति आकृष्ट रहते हैं, इसलिए उनकी बुद्धि जड़ हो गई है। इस तरह वे उन कर्मकाण्डों के लिए सामग्री एकत्र करने में व्यस्त रहते हैं, जो केवल नश्वर लाभ देने वाले हैं—यथा भौतिक सुख के लिए स्वर्गलोक जाना। वे संकीर्तन आन्दोलन के प्रति आकृष्ट नहीं होते बल्कि वे धर्म, अर्थ, काम तथा मोक्ष में रुचि लेते हैं। ।। ६-३-२५ ।।
