य एवं परमं गुह्यमितिहासमघापहम् । श‍ृणुयाच्छ्रद्धया युक्तो यश्च भक्त्यानुकीर्तयेत् ।। ६-२-४७ ।।

sanskrit

Because this very confidential historical narration has the potency to vanquish all sinful reactions, one who hears or describes it with faith and devotion is no longer doomed to hellish life, regardless of his having a material body and regardless of how sinful he may have been. ।। 6-2-47 ।।

english translation

चूँकि इस अतिगोपनीय ऐतिहासिक कथा में सारे पापफलों को नष्ट करने की शक्ति है, अत: जो भी इसे श्रद्धा तथा भक्तिपूर्वक सुनता है या सुनाता है, वह नरकभागी नहीं होता, चाहे उसे भौतिक शरीर मिला हो और चाहे वह कितना ही पापी क्यों न रहा हो। ।। ६-२-४७ ।।
