श्रीशुक उवाच ऋषयस्तदुपाकर्ण्य महेन्द्रमिदमब्रुवन् । याजयिष्याम भद्रं ते हयमेधेन मा स्म भैः ॥ ६-१३-६ ॥
Śrī Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Hearing this, the great sages replied to King Indra, “O King of heaven, all good fortune unto you. Do not fear. We shall perform an aśvamedha sacrifice to release you from any sin you may accrue by killing the brāhmaṇa.” ॥ 6-13-6 ॥

श्रीशुकदेव गोस्वामी ने कहा—यह सुनकर ऋषियों ने इन्द्र को उत्तर दिया, “हे स्वर्ग के राजा! तुम्हारा कल्याण हो। तुम डरो नहीं। हम तुम्हें ब्राह्मण-हत्या से लगने वाले किसी भी पाप से मुक्ति के लिए एक अश्वमेघ यज्ञ करेंगे।” ॥ ६-१३-६ ॥

हयमेधेन पुरुषं परमात्मानमीश्वरम् । इष्ट्वा नारायणं देवं मोक्ष्यसेऽपि जगद्वधात् ॥ ६-१३-७ ॥
The ṛṣis continued: O King Indra, by performing an aśvamedha sacrifice and thereby pleasing the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is the Supersoul, Lord Nārāyaṇa, the supreme controller, one can be relieved even of the sinful reactions for killing the entire world, not to speak of killing a demon like Vṛtrāsura. ॥ 6-13-7 ॥

ऋषियों ने आगे कहा—हे राजा इन्द्र! अश्वमेध यज्ञ करके उसके द्वारा पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् को, जो परमात्मा, भगवान्, नारायण और परम नियन्ता हैं, प्रसन्न करके मनुष्य सारे संसार के वध के पाप-फलों से भी मुक्त हो सकता है, वृत्रासुर जैसे एक असुर के वध की तो बात ही क्या है? ॥ ६-१३-७ ॥

ब्रह्महा पितृहा गोघ्नो मातृहाऽऽचार्यहाघवान् । श्वादः पुल्कसको वापि शुद्ध्येरन् यस्य कीर्तनात् ॥ ६-१३-८ ॥
One who has killed a brāhmaṇa, one who has killed a cow or one who has killed his father, mother or spiritual master can be immediately freed from all sinful reactions simply by chanting the holy name of Lord Nārāyaṇa. Other sinful persons, such as dog-eaters and caṇḍālas, who are less than śūdras, can also be freed in this way. ॥ 6-13-8 ॥

भगवान् नारायण के पवित्र नाम के जप-मात्र से ब्राह्मण, गाय, पिता, माता, गुरू की हत्या करने वाला मनुष्य समस्त पाप-फलों से तुरन्त मुक्त किया जा सकता है। अन्य पापी मनुष्य भी, यथा कुत्ते को खाने वाले तथा चांडाल, जो शूद्रों से भी निम्न हैं, इसी प्रकार से मुक्त हो जाते हैं। ॥ ६-१३-८ ॥

But you are a devotee, and we shall help you by performing the great horse sacrifice. If you please Lord Nārāyaṇa in that way, why should you be afraid? You will be freed even if you kill the entire universe, including the brāhmaṇas, not to speak of killing a disturbing demon like Vṛtrāsura. ॥ 6-13-9 ॥

फिर आप तो भक्त हैं और हम सभी महान् अश्वमेध यज्ञ करके आपकी सहायता करेंगे। यदि आप भी इस प्रकार भगवान् नारायण को प्रसन्न करें तो फिर आपको डर कैसा? तब आप मुक्त हो जायेंगे, भले ही आप ब्राह्मणों सहित सारे ब्रह्माण्ड की हत्या क्यों न कर दें। भला वृत्रासुर जैसे विघ्नकारी एक असुर की हत्या की क्या बात है? ॥ ६-१३-९ ॥

Śrī Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Encouraged by the words of the sages, Indra killed Vṛtrāsura, and when he was killed the sinful reaction for killing a brāhmaṇa [brahma-hatyā] certainly took shelter of Indra. ॥ 6-13-10 ॥
