भुञ्जानः प्रपिबन् खादन् बालकस्नेहयन्त्रितः । भोजयन् पाययन् मूढो न वेदागतमन्तकम् ।। ६-१-२६ ।।

sanskrit

When Ajāmila chewed food and ate it, he called the child to chew and eat, and when he drank he called the child to drink also. Always engaged in taking care of the child and calling his name, Nārāyaṇa, Ajāmila could not understand that his own time was now exhausted and that death was upon him. ।। 6-1-26 ।।

english translation

जब अजामिल भोजन करता तो वह बालक को खाने के लिए पुकारता और जब वह कुछ पीता तो उसे भी पीने के लिए बुलाता। उस बालक की देखरेख करने तथा उसका नाम पुकारने में सदा लगा रहकर अजामिल यह न समझ पाया कि उसका समय अब समाप्त हो चुका है और मृत्यु उसके सिर पर है। ।। ६-१-२६ ‌।।
