ये त्विह वै पुरुषाः पुरुषमेधेन यजन्ते याश्च स्त्रियो नृपशून् खादन्ति तांश्च ते पशव इव निहता यमसदने यातयन्तो रक्षोगणाः सौनिका इव स्वधितिनावदायासृक् पिबन्ति नृत्यन्ति च गायन्ति च हृष्यमाणा यथेह पुरुषादाः ॥ ५-२६-३१ ॥
There are men and women in this world who sacrifice human beings to Bhairava or Bhadra Kālī and then eat their victims’ flesh. Those who perform such sacrifices are taken after death to the abode of Yamarāja, where their victims, having taken the form of Rākṣasas, cut them to pieces with sharpened swords. Just as in this world the man-eaters drank their victims’ blood, dancing and singing in jubilation, their victims now enjoy drinking the blood of the sacrificers and celebrating in the same way. ॥ 5-26-31 ॥

इस संसार में ऐसे भी पुरुष तथा स्त्रियाँ हैं, जो भैरव या भद्रकाली को नर-बलि चढ़ाकर अपने द्वारा बलि किए गये शिकार का मांस खाते हैं। ऐसे यज्ञ करने वालों को मृत्यु के पश्चात् यमलोक में ले जाया जाता है जहाँ उनके शिकार (मारे गये व्यक्ति) राक्षस का रूप धारण करके अपनी तेज तलवारों से उनके टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर डालते हैं। जिस प्रकार इस लोक में नर भक्षकों ने नाचते गाते हुए अपने शिकार का रक्तपान किया था उसी तरह उनके शिकार अब अपने वध करने वालों का रक्तपान करके आनन्दित होते हैं। ॥ ५-२६-३१ ॥

ये त्विह वा अनागसोऽरण्ये ग्रामे वा वैश्रम्भकैरुपसृतानुपविश्रम्भय्य जिजीविषून् शूलसूत्रादिषूपप्रोतान् क्रीडनकतया यातयन्ति तेऽपि च प्रेत्य यमयातनासु शूलादिषु प्रोतात्मानः क्षुत्तृड्भ्यां चाभिहताः कङ्कवटादिभिश्चेतस्ततस्तिग्मतुण्डैराहन्यमाना आत्मशमलं स्मरन्ति ॥ ५-२६-३२ ॥
In this life some people give shelter to animals and birds that come to them for protection in the village or forest, and after making them believe that they will be protected, such people pierce them with lances or threads and play with them like toys, giving them great pain. After death such people are brought by the assistants of Yamarāja to the hell known as Śūlaprota, where their bodies are pierced with sharp, needlelike lances. They suffer from hunger and thirst, and sharp-beaked birds such as vultures and herons come at them from all sides to tear at their bodies. Tortured and suffering, they can then remember the sinful activities they committed in the past. ॥ 5-26-32

इस जीवन में कुछ व्यक्ति गाँव या वन में रक्षा के लिए आये हुए पशुओं तथा पक्षियों को शरण देते हैं और उन्हें अपनी सुरक्षा का विश्वास हो जाने के बाद उन्हें बर्छे या डोरे में फाँस कर घोर पीड़ा पहुँचाकर उनसे खिलौने जैसा खेलते हैं। ऐसे व्यक्ति मृत्यु के पश्चात् यमराज के दूतों द्वारा शूलप्रोत नामक नरक में ले जाये जाते हैं जहाँ उनके शरीरों को तीक्ष्ण नुकीले भालों से छेदा जाता है। वे भूख तथा प्यास से तड़पते रहते हैं और उनके शरीरों को गीध तथा बगुले जैसे तीक्ष्ण चोंच वाले पक्षी चारों ओर से नोंचते हैं। इस प्रकार से यातना पाकर उन्हें पूर्वजन्म में किये गये पाप-कर्मों का स्मरण होता है। ॥ ५-२६-३२ ॥

ये त्विह वै भूतान्युद्वेजयन्ति नरा उल्बणस्वभावा यथा दन्दशूकास्तेऽपि प्रेत्य नरके दन्दशूकाख्ये निपतन्ति यत्र नृप दन्दशूकाः पञ्चमुखाः सप्तमुखा उपसृत्य ग्रसन्ति यथा बिलेशयान् ॥ ५-२६-३३ ॥
Those who in this life are like envious serpents, always angry and giving pain to other living entities, fall after death into the hell known as Dandaśūka. My dear King, in this hell there are serpents with five or seven hoods. These serpents eat such sinful persons just as snakes eat mice. ॥ 5-26-33 ॥

जो व्यक्ति इस जीवन में ईर्ष्यालु सर्पों के समान क्रोधी स्वभाव वाले अन्य जीवों को पीड़ा पहुँचाते हैं, वे मृत्यु के पश्चात् दन्दशूक नामक नरक में गिरते हैं। हे राजन्, इस नरक में पाँच या सात फण वाले सर्प हैं, जो इन पापात्माओं को उसी प्रकार खा जाते हैं जिस प्रकार चूहों को सर्प खाते हैं। ॥ ५-२६-३३ ॥

ये त्विह वा अन्धावटकुसूलगुहादिषु भूतानि निरुन्धन्ति तथामुत्र तेष्वेवोपवेश्य सगरेण वह्निना धूमेन निरुन्धन्ति ॥ ५-२६-३४ ॥
Those who in this life confine other living entities in dark wells, granaries or mountain caves are put after death into the hell known as Avaṭa-nirodhana. There they themselves are pushed into dark wells, where poisonous fumes and smoke suffocate them and they suffer very severely. ॥ 5-26-34 ॥

जो व्यक्ति इस जीवन में अन्य जीवों को अन्धे कुएँ, खत्ती या पर्वत की गुफाओं में बन्दी बनाकर रखते हैं, वे मृत्यु के पश्चात् अवट-निरोधन नामक नरक में रखे जाते हैं। वहाँ वे स्वयं अंधे कुओं में धकेल दिये जाते हैं, जहाँ विषैले धुएँ से उनका दम घुटता है और वे घोर यातनाएँ उठाते हैं। ॥ ५-२६-३४ ॥

यस्त्विह वा अतिथीनभ्यागतान् वा गृहपतिरसकृदुपगतमन्युर्दिधक्षुरिव पापेन चक्षुषा निरीक्षते तस्य चापि निरये पापदृष्टेरक्षिणी वज्रतुण्डा गृध्राः कङ्ककाकवटादयः प्रसह्योरुबलादुत्पाटयन्ति ॥ ५-२६-३५ ॥
A householder who receives guests or visitors with cruel glances, as if to burn them to ashes, is put into the hell called Paryāvartana, where he is gazed at by hard-eyed vultures, herons, crows and similar birds, which suddenly swoop down and pluck out his eyes with great force.

जो गृहस्थ अपने घर आये अतिथियों अथवा अभ्यागतों को क्रोध भरी कुटिल दृष्टि से देखता है मानो उन्हें भस्म कर देगा, उसे पर्यावर्तन नामक नरक में ले जाकर रखा जाता है जहाँ उसे वज्र जैसी चोंच वाले गीध, बगुले, कौवे तथा इसी प्रकार के अन्य पक्षी घूरते हैं और सहसा झपट कर तेजी से उनकी आँखें निकाल लेते हैं। ॥ ५-२६-३५ ॥
