Just as the Gaṅgā is the greatest of all rivers, Lord Acyuta the supreme among deities and Lord Śambhu [Śiva] the greatest of Vaiṣṇavas, so Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is the greatest of all Purāṇas. ।। 12-13-16 ।।

जिस प्रकार गंगा सभी नदियों में सबसे महान है, भगवान अच्युता देवताओं में सर्वोच्च हैं और भगवान शंभू [शिव] वैष्णवों में सबसे महान हैं, उसी प्रकार श्रीमद-भागवतम सभी पुराणों में सबसे महान है। ।। १२-१३-१६ ।।
