धर्मस्य ह्यापवर्ग्यस्य नार्थोऽर्थायोपकल्पते । नार्थस्यधर्मैकान्तस्य कामोलाभायहिस्मृतः ।। १-२-९ ।।

One's occupational activities are certainly meant for ultimate liberation and not for the end of material gain, neither is, according to the sages, the material progress of the dutiful ones in devotional service meant for the attainment of sense-gratification. ।। 1-2-9 ।।

english translation

समस्त वृत्तिपरक कार्य निश्चय ही परम मोक्ष के निमित्त होते हैं। उन्हें कभी भौतिक लाभ के लिए सम्पन्न नहीं किया जाना चाहिए। इससे भी आगे, ऋषियों के अनुसार, जो लोग परम वृत्ति (धर्म) में लगे हैं, उन्हें चाहिए कि इन्द्रियतृप्ति के संवर्धन हेतु भौतिक लाभ का उपयोग कदापि नहीं करना चाहिए। ।। १-२-९ ।।
