सूते कृताशिषि गते मुनयः सुवृत्ता यागे च पर्यवसिते महति प्रयोगे ॥ काले कलौ च विषयैः कलुषायमाणे वाराणसीपरिसरे वसतिं विनेतुः ॥ ४१ ॥

sanskrit

Then Sūta blessed them and left. The righteous sages fixed their abode permanently at the outskirts of Vārāṇasī after performing the sattra at Prayāga when they perceived that everything was being defiled by the advent of the Kali age.

english translation

sUte kRtAziSi gate munayaH suvRttA yAge ca paryavasite mahati prayoge ॥ kAle kalau ca viSayaiH kaluSAyamANe vArANasIparisare vasatiM vinetuH ॥ 41 ॥
