तदा ते हिमवत्पादात्पंततीं दक्षिणामुखीम् ॥ दृष्ट्वा भागीरथी तत्र स्नात्वा तत्तीरतो ययुः ॥ ६ ॥

sanskrit

There they saw the holy river Gaṅgā descending from the Himālayan ridges and flowing to the south. They took their bath there and went along the bank.

english translation

tadA te himavatpAdAtpaMtatIM dakSiNAmukhIm ॥ dRSTvA bhAgIrathI tatra snAtvA tattIrato yayuH ॥ 6 ॥

ततो वाराणसीं प्राप्य मुदितास्सर्व एव ते ॥ तदोत्तरप्रवाहायां गंगायामवगाह्य च ॥ ७ ॥

Thereafter they all rejoiced on reaching Varanasi Then he took a dip in the northern flow of the Ganges.

अविमुक्तेश्वरं लिंगं दृष्ट्वाभ्यर्च्य विधानतः ॥ प्रयातुमुद्यतास्तत्र ददृशुर्दिवि भास्वरम् ॥ ८ ॥

sanskrit

Having seen the linga of Lord Avimukta, one should worship it in accordance with the prescribed rituals. As they were about to leave they saw a bright light in the sky.

avimuktezvaraM liMgaM dRSTvAbhyarcya vidhAnataH ॥ prayAtumudyatAstatra dadRzurdivi bhAsvaram ॥ 8 ॥

सूर्यकोटिप्रतीकाशं तेजोदिव्यं महाद्भुतम् ॥ आत्मप्रभावितानेन व्याप्तसर्वदिगन्तरम् ॥ ९ ॥

Its effulgence was divine and wonderful, resembling millions of suns. By his own influence he pervaded all directions.

अथ पाशुपताः सिद्धाः भस्मसञ्छन्नविग्रहाः ॥ मुनयो ऽभ्येत्य शतशो लीनाः स्युस्तत्र तेजसि ॥ १० ॥

Then the Siddhas and sages who had performed Pāśupata rites with their bodies covered with Bhasma came there in hundreds and merged into that splendour.

atha pAzupatAH siddhAH bhasmasaJchannavigrahAH ॥ munayo 'bhyetya zatazo lInAH syustatra tejasi ॥ 10 ॥
