तर्पयेदथ देवेभ्य ऋषिभिश्च विशेषतः ॥ भूतेभ्यश्च पितृभ्यश्च दद्यादर्घ्यं यथाविधि ॥ २१ ॥

sanskrit

He shall perform the Tarpaṇa rite to the gods, to the sages in particular, to the Bhūtas and to the Pitṛs. He shall offer Arghya duly.

english translation

tarpayedatha devebhya RSibhizca vizeSataH ॥ bhUtebhyazca pitRbhyazca dadyAdarghyaM yathAvidhi ॥ 21 ॥

रक्तचंदनतोयेन हस्तमात्रेण मंडलम् ॥ सुवृत्तं कल्पयेद्भूमौ रक्तचूर्णाद्यलंकृतम् ॥ २२ ॥

With a handful of red sandal water he shall make a circular Maṇḍala on the ground and embellish it with red powder.

english translation

raktacaMdanatoyena hastamAtreNa maMDalam ॥ suvRttaM kalpayedbhUmau raktacUrNAdyalaMkRtam ॥ 22 ॥

तत्र संपूजयेद्भानुं स्वकीयावरणैः सह ॥ स्वखोल्कायेति मंत्रेण सांगतस्सुखसिद्धये ॥ २३ ॥

sanskrit

There he shall worship the sun with the covers along with his ancillaries repeating the mantra “Khakholkāya” for securing happiness.

english translation

tatra saMpUjayedbhAnuM svakIyAvaraNaiH saha ॥ svakholkAyeti maMtreNa sAMgatassukhasiddhaye ॥ 23 ॥

पुनश्च मंडलं कृत्वा तदंगैः परिपूज्य च ॥ तत्र स्थाप्य हेमपात्रं मागधप्रस्थसंमितम् ॥ २४ ॥

Again he made a circle and worshiped it with his limbs. A golden vessel the size of a Magadha prastha was placed there.

पूरयेद्गंधतोयेन रक्तचंदनयोगिना ॥ रक्तपुष्पैस्तिलैश्चैव कुशाक्षतसमन्वितैः ॥ २५ ॥

Fill the area with fragrant water mixed with red sandalwood paste. Red flowers and sesame seeds accompanied by kusha grass and unbroken grains.
