उपमन्युरुवाच ॥ ततः स्नानादिकं सर्वं समाप्याचार्यचोदितः ॥ गच्छेद्बद्धांजलिर्ध्यायञ्छिवमण्डलपार्श्वतः ॥ १ ॥
Upamanyu said:— After completing ablution and other rites the disciple shall, at the bidding of the preceptor, go near the Maṇḍala of Śiva meditating on Śiva, with palms joined in reverence.
english translation
अथ पूजां विना सर्वं कृत्वा पूर्वदिने यथा ॥ नेत्रबंधनपर्यंतं दर्शयेन्मण्डलं गुरुः ॥ २ ॥
All rites upto the binding of the eyes shall be performed as on the previous day, except the worship. Then the preceptor shall show him the Maṇḍala.
english translation
बद्धनेत्रेण शिष्येण पुष्पावकिरणे कृते ॥ यत्रापतंति पुष्णाणि तस्य नामा ऽस्य संदिशेत् ॥ ३ ॥
When flowers are strewn by the disciple whose eyes are tied, the preceptor shall tell him the places where the flowers fell.
english translation
तं चोपनीय निर्माल्यमण्डले ऽस्मिन्यथा पुरा ॥ पूजयेद्देवमीशानं जुहुयाच्च शिवानले ॥ ४ ॥
The preceptor shall take him to the Maṇḍala where worship had already been performed. As before he shall worship lord Īśāna and perform homa in the fire.
english translation
शिष्येण यदि दुःस्वप्नो दृष्टस्तद्दोषशांतये ॥ शतमर्धं तदर्धं वा जुहुयान्मूलविद्यया ॥ ५ ॥
If any bad dream had been seen by the disciple, the preceptor shall perform hundred, or fifty, or twenty five homas with the basic mantra for the removal of that defect.
