यथोपदिष्टं कृष्णाय मुनिना ह्युपमन्युना ॥ तथा समासतो वक्ष्ये तच्छृणुध्वमतंद्रिताः ॥ ६ ॥
I shall explain it succinctly as imparted to Kṛṣṇa by Upamanyu. Please hear attentively.
english translation
yathopadiSTaM kRSNAya muninA hyupamanyunA ॥ tathA samAsato vakSye tacchRNudhvamataMdritAH ॥ 6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपुरोपमन्युमासीनं विष्णुःकृष्णवपुर्धरः ॥ प्रणिपत्य यथान्यायमिदं वचनमब्रवीत् ॥ ७ ॥
Formerly Viṣṇu in the form of Kṛṣṇa bowed to Upamanyu sitting in his hermitage and spoke courteously.
english translation
puropamanyumAsInaM viSNuHkRSNavapurdharaH ॥ praNipatya yathAnyAyamidaM vacanamabravIt ॥ 7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptश्रीकृष्ण उवाच ॥ भगवञ्छ्रोतुमिच्छामि देव्यै देवेन भाषितम् ॥ दिव्यं पाशुपतं ज्ञानं विभूतिं वास्य कृत्स्नशः ॥ ८ ॥
Lord Kṛṣṇa said:— O lord, I wish to hear about the divine Pāśupata knowledge as mentioned to the goddess by the lord. I wish to hear about his prosperity and glory entirely.
english translation
zrIkRSNa uvAca ॥ bhagavaJchrotumicchAmi devyai devena bhASitam ॥ divyaM pAzupataM jJAnaM vibhUtiM vAsya kRtsnazaH ॥ 8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptकथं पशुपतिर्देवः पशवः के प्रकीर्तिताः ॥ कैः पाशैस्ते निबध्यंते विमुच्यंते च ते कथम् ॥ ९ ॥
How is the lord known as Paśupati, lord of Paśus? Who are the Paśus? What are those Pāśas (strings) with which they are bound? How are they released?
english translation
kathaM pazupatirdevaH pazavaH ke prakIrtitAH ॥ kaiH pAzaiste nibadhyaMte vimucyaMte ca te katham ॥ 9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइति संचोदितः श्रीमानुपमन्युर्महात्मना ॥ प्रणम्य देवं देवीं च प्राह पुष्टो यथा तथा ॥ १० ॥
Thus implored by the noble Kṛṣṇa the glorious Upamanyu bowed to the lord and the goddess and spoke as follows.

iti saMcoditaH zrImAnupamanyurmahAtmanA ॥ praNamya devaM devIM ca prAha puSTo yathA tathA ॥ 10 ॥
