Shiva Purana
प्रजानामेव बृद्ध्यर्थं तपस्तप्तं त्वयाधुना ॥ तपसा ऽनेन तुष्टोस्मि ददामि च तवेप्सितम् ॥ ५ ॥
It is for the increase in the number of the subjects that this penance has been performed by you. I am delighted with your penance. I shall grant you what you desire.
english translation
prajAnAmeva bRddhyarthaM tapastaptaM tvayAdhunA ॥ tapasA 'nena tuSTosmi dadAmi ca tavepsitam ॥ 5 ॥
