सुरेन्द्रप्रेरितो वायुर्महसः सन्निधिं गतः ॥ कस्त्वं भोरिति सम्बोध्यावोचदेनं च तन्महः ॥ ११ ॥
Urged by Indra, the wind-god approached splendour and addressed it, “Who are you?” The splendour too put the same question to him.
english translation
surendraprerito vAyurmahasaH sannidhiM gataH ॥ kastvaM bhoriti sambodhyAvocadenaM ca tanmahaH ॥ 11 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइति पृष्टस्तदा वायुर्महसातिगरीयसा ॥ वायुरस्मि जगत्प्राणस्साभिमानोऽब्रवीदिदम् ॥ १२ ॥
Thus asked by the big mass of splendour the wind-god replied arrogantly.—“I am Vāyu the vital breath of the universe.”
english translation
iti pRSTastadA vAyurmahasAtigarIyasA ॥ vAyurasmi jagatprANassAbhimAno'bravIdidam ॥ 12 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptजंगमाजंगमं सर्वमोतप्रोतमिदं जगत् ॥ मय्येव निखिलाधारे चालयाम्यखिलं जगत् ॥ १३ ॥
Everything in the universe, mobile or immobile, is woven like warp and woof into me. I am the support of everything. I move the entire universe.”
english translation
jaMgamAjaMgamaM sarvamotaprotamidaM jagat ॥ mayyeva nikhilAdhAre cAlayAmyakhilaM jagat ॥ 13 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतदोवाच महातेजः शक्तोऽसि यदि चालने ॥ धृतमेतत्तृणं वायो चालयस्व निजेच्छया ॥ १४ ॥
Then the great splendour said:—“If you are competent to move, O wind-god, please move this blade of grass I have set before you. Move it as you please.”
english translation
tadovAca mahAtejaH zakto'si yadi cAlane ॥ dhRtametattRNaM vAyo cAlayasva nijecchayA ॥ 14 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततः सर्वप्रयत्नेनाकरोद्यत्नं सदागतिः ॥ न चचाल यदा स्थानात्तदासौ लज्जितोऽभवत ॥ १५॥
Then wind-god put forth all his efforts. But the blade of grass did not stir from its position. Then he was put to shame.

tataH sarvaprayatnenAkarodyatnaM sadAgatiH ॥ na cacAla yadA sthAnAttadAsau lajjito'bhavata ॥ 15॥
